What causes stains?
As we age, our teeth accumulate stains, which may be caused by the foods and drinks we consume, behaviors such as smoking, or genetic predisposition to stains. When stains penetrate the enamel of the tooth and lodge in the dentin, the tooth appears yellowish.
To avoid future stains, rinse your mouth with water after drinking anything acidic (coffee, tea, soda, wine), or use a straw to minimize contact with your teeth. The same applies to acidic foods, like balsamic vinegar, and heavily pigmented foods, such as curry, or red berries. Smoking also causes heavy staining, along with many other adverse affects to your health.
How does Zoom work?
Zoom Whitening uses hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide to break the bonds of staining chemicals in the dentin, which rids your teeth of the yellow stains. The procedure occurs during one office visit, in which three 15-minute sessions take place.
